day 012: getting away

Henry and I enjoyed an afternoon 'getting away.' It was nice to be immersed in a child's world where chasing a water bottle down a hill is pure happiness. We enjoyed a bottle of wine and the spectacular view of Los Angeles. It was definitely a priceless afternoon. :)

day 011: feeding the wolves

I didn't have time to post yesterday. After work, I went to watch Frost/Nixon with Chris and then enjoyed an engaging conversation with dinner at Canter's. This is not the best picture from the Day, but it is the best picture of Chris. :)

One evening a grandfather was teaching his young grandson about the internal battle that each person faces.

“There are two wolves struggling inside each of us,” the old man said.

“One wolf is vengefulness, anger, resentment, self-pity, fear…

“The other wolf is compassion, faithfulness, hope, truth, love…”

The grandson sat, thinking, then asked: “Which wolf wins, Grandfather?”

His grandfather replied, “The one you feed.”

Thank you, Chris, for reminding me to feed the correct wolf. :)

day 010: down the rabbit hole

I feel like I've fallen down the rabbit hole today. I need to figure out if I take the bottle that says, "DRINK ME" or the cake that says, "EAT ME."

On my way to a Mad Tea Party with three birthday girls. Happy Birthday Joanna, Meredith and Jeannie...all today, all Aquarians. :)

day 009: Bergamot Station

Bergamot Station is a collection of gallery spaces tucked away in an old trolley car warehouse in Santa Monica. Bergamot Cafe is delectable, but I had an unexpected lunch on a jonah day.

day 008: pass-out-dena

OK, technically I missed it by 1.5 hours, but at least I'm still posting. No excuses, I know, but here is my best shot:

Today started off by waking up late. At work, a late afternoon client meeting kept me there until 7pm, which was the same time I was to meet Henry in Beverly Hills. Found a disturbing email. Drove to Beverly Hills only to be scolded by a woman who said I was bugging her. Enjoyed a much needed glass of wine in Pass-out-dena and ended up circling around pondering life while trying to find the entrance to the 134 freeway.

This was taken at the bar/restaurant in Pass-out-dena, but for the life of me, I cannot recall the name.

day 007: year of the ox

Happy Chinese New Year!! It's the year of the Ox and what better way to celebrate it than ushering it in with Henry, who is also an Ox. My only requests was a loung-y bar with a fireplace, and we found it at Geisha House in Hollywood. As we walked in, The Cars that go Boom was playing, I loved it. A couple of glasses of wine and conversation near a fireplace was the best was to welcome the new year!

This is a picture of the trail that I walked this morning. I'm not ready for running yet, but I hope in the next couple of weeks to start running again. I know those of you on the east coast will think I'm a wimp, but it was cold this morning.

day 006: books

Perfectly Legal: Amy Goodman on Democracy Now! interviewed the author some time ago, but they recently replayed the interview so I decided to read it.

day 005: revolutionaries on the road

went to watch Revolutionary Road with my friend, John. Freaking A! Be in a good mood to watch this, because you'll want to take a bath with a toaster afterward. It's a good movie, but just very compelling.
I saw this plant in a planter near the theater and decided to photograph it. I love the contrast of the colors. I'm always amazed at the plants that grow outside in Southern California.

day 004: girls' night

I haven't seen, my girl, Chadonna in a couple of weeks, so it was nice to catch up with her. A couple of martinis and a glass of wine later, we were pondering: How is is that we keep attracting the Gemini, Year of the Goats? hahaha I couldn't post last night as I got home at 2 am. Wonderful evening.

day 003: antioxidants

Oprah recommended writing down three foods that you will no longer buy and 3 foods that you will buy. Well all of the foods I won't buy, I can't and haven't bought in months. So that list is already compiled, but I did write down the foods that I wanted to buy more of: berries. Blueberries to be precise, because they are filled with antioxidants. The list also contain beets and broccoli. Please come over and you will be treated to fresh berries. :)

day 002: pinch me

I'm not dreaming yesterday happened. Along with my photo blog, I'm keeping a journal. My most prized possessions are my journals from the past years. I haven't been very diligent with them, but I feel like I want to remember this feeling forever, so I'm starting the habit again, besides it will be a journal/sketch book.

day 001: inauguration day

I will not allow anyone to ruin this day for me. Please.
I have been waiting for this day for eight years. Today is such a beautiful day. I'm so proud to be an American today, and yes it's been a long time that I've been able to say that. I use to say a disclaimer of not voting for Bush.

I know that I'm suppose to be reaching across the aisle and there are no red or blue states, there is only the United States. BUT, can I please just gloat for a couple of days? Give me a week and then I will give you the 3 years and 11 months and 3 weeks.
