It's been crazy MJ mania around here. I drove pass the house in Beverly Hills, (no, I didn't seek it out, it's right off of sunset) I took this picture as I whizzed by. I can't believe how many people are walking up to the house.
Another packed day. This morning I joined Nate and Ken to watch the USA v Brazil soccer game. They are huge futbol fans and keep me up-to-date with the happenings in USA Soccer. USA fans came out to represent, and we held our own for the first half, but as my friend, Nate, said, "so much of the game is mental, and you can't play on the defense for 45 mins." True, true. I'm so happy that it wasn't a complete blow out and we scared them a bit, or rather pissed them off.After Ritch picked me up to go to the beach. It was a beautiful day in SoCal for the beach. The sun was out, it was beautiful and so are you... :) It was not too hot, there was a nice breeze that kept you cool and the beach wasn't crowded.
I, then, rushed home to shower and change for the Hollywood Bowl with Chris. Jonelle Rae, Chaka Khan and Adele performed. It was an absolute perfect day. The Bowl is always wonderful and a beacon of summer in LA.
Some days are packed and when that happens I try to stop and study something intricately for 10-15 mins, whether it's that back of my hand or a flower. I will take the time to observe it. This morning I did that with this flower. I have a sketch of it, but still need to scan it in.
A friend cancelled their trip, and offered Fish and I their spot to visit the garden a couple of weeks ago, but we couldn't coordinate our schedules. At that time, I made reservations and they were for today. The UCLA Hannah Carter Japanese Garden is beautiful and peaceful. It was a definite time to getaway from the chaotic city life. Upon our arrival, we were in typical Prue and Fish style- 15 min late, the gentleman who greeted us said, "you can leave it all behind." wow.The website doesn't give a location, you will receive it upon your confirmation. Hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 10:00am - 3:00pm by reservation only. Reservations are 50 mins.
Chadonna and I went to Digital LA's networking mixer at Halo. Of course, we stepped into the photo booth and took our pictures.
I love summer in this city. I volunteered today with the LA Film Fest and enjoyed a nice evening at the Grove.
Awesome! I went to the Premiere of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Awesome! Shia is hot! Josh is hot! Optimus Prime is Hot! Bumble Bee is hot! Amazing! oh, and that girl... what's-her-name. :PI kinda sat close to the screen, but I didn't care. I could've sat in the front row and I wouldn't have complained. But there's one scene where I didn't need to see it so close up. When you watch the film, you'll know what I'm talking about. hahaha

Fox Searchlight kicked off summer with a 500 days of summer give away. Chadonna and I went to Westwood for Kogi Tacos and then to the Grove for Sprinkles cupcakes.
There was a free screening of the Muppet Movie tonight. The LA Film Fest shut down Broxton Avenue and set up a large screen for the showing. I've heard that Westwood was once like Universal City Walk, where people walked the boulevards on a weekend. I love to see the streets of Westwood filled. It always seemed strange to me, when I was at UCLA, that they didn't take advantage of the proximity to the University, but I guess I was just a few years too late.sorry for all the crappy cell pix, I didn't realize how much I pulled out my cell rather than my camera.
A couple days/weeks ago, I went to Father's Office in Santa Monica with my friend, Heath. This week I checked out the Culver City location with Kara and Brian. I haven't seen them since (yikes, has it been since The Edison?) well, a long time.The location is nice, but the bathroom is confusing. They have one of those poured-in-place concrete sinks (I won't disclose the name, because he's a terrible business man) that is shared by both the male and female bathrooms. It sickens me to think of the door knobs on each of the passage ways. Yuck! BUT when I walked up, there were about three men at the sink and it looked like a urinal. I froze and declared, "I'm sorry." while trying to turn around a man said, "no, no the women's bathroom is right past there," as he pointed me past the concrete sink...
It was a great night filled with great food, drinks and obviously GREAT FRIENDS! :)
I went to the premiere of Paper Man tonight. Paper Man is an independent film and the opening night Gala for the LA Film Fest. I was not a fan of the movie, and while it was an interesting concept, it didn't come together well. It was almost trying to hard with gimmicks, obvious metaphors and bad use of a superhero. That will kill it every time. hahaha However, another superhero saved my night: Robert Downey Jr. was a the premiere and looking dapper as always. He's inching up on my top 5.This is my poor attempt at taking his pic, so I will link to a better shot. hahaha
Since I'm unemployed I decided that : I'm going to the Lakers' Parade. It's been 7 years since they won, and for what ever reason I didn't go to that parade, but this time I'm going. It was awesome! After the crazy riots that happened on Saturday (idiots) I took public transportation down to the Colosseum. No need for my car to be set on fire. Alas, there were no riots or fires. It was a beautiful sunny day and the streets were filled with purple and gold. Absolutely Amazing! YEAAAY!!
I've been volunteering w/ Project Angel Food. I feel like I'm the onion and broccoli girl. Every time I volunteer I'm chopping broccoli or onions. I will be master chopper! I am pretty handy with a knife now.
I went to Digital LA's Widgets and Apps panel discussion at Rush Street in Culver City, and I realized I am a targeted market. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
THE LAKERS WON THE 2009 NBA CHAMPIONSHIPS! Carla, Nicole and I went to Busby's in Santa Monica to celebrate and then at La Grande Orange.Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic, but my camera battery was dead from Tommy's party.
We celebrated Tommy's birthday in Los Angeles. What happens in the PDT stays in the PDT, and I'll leave it at that.
Surrounded by many friends and family members, Kristy and Steven were proudly named at Kol Ami in Hollywood on June 12, 2009. It was a beautiful service to kick off Gay Pride. The service reminded us of the injustice that is facing the world right now, but offered hope in the future of these two little darlings. We welcome the with our open arms and hearts these to precious children.The two little dearies were so excited they skipped their naptime today. And I admit, that Steven and Kristy out partied me, and that's not an easy task. They were still raring to go when I left the party. I'm still processing the pictures and I hope to have them up by this week, thank you for your patience.
I'm probably the only person in So Cal who enjoys the June Gloom. It gives me the chance to get work done in the morning and workout in the afternoon. This afternoon, I climbed to Griffith Observatory on my bike. I can't believe I did it. There was a couple who said they saw me and were cheering me on. They waited for me at the top and congratulated me. WOW! The ride down is always fun and beautiful.
Wow! it's been a long time since I updated. I've just been so busy volunteering, processing photos, and networking. I have been taking photos every day, and thankfully all are digital so they are stamped with a date or I would never remember.
On this day, I went to the Pompeii and the Roman Villa Exhibit at LACMA. Photography is not allowed in the gallery, but I did take pix outside. The exhibit is beautiful, and I couldn't help to think of the metaphorical equivalence of the eruption of Pompeii is to the economic eruption happening to the world now.
I've been discovering new trails in the Hollywood Hills, and I have found three other trails than the three most popular in Runyon Canyon. Since the pool was closed for unscheduled maintenance, I decided to hike all five that I knew of. The reason why Runyon is so popular is the location and the workout that you get from hiking. They're small trails, but burn your thighs. The weather has been perfect in LA for getting outdoors, it's not too hot. It's time to jump on a trail and get outside. :)
I had to get some of the food staples. Sorry such a boring post, but I've been proofing photos all day and decided to take some shots while I was at Ralph's. I picked up some bread, eggs, and milk... soy milk not dairy milk.
I will post another picture from Carla's party, technically these were taken on Sunday. We continued the party into the wee hours of the morning with Karaoke. Of course, I sang a rendition of Total Eclipse of the Heart. Look how into it I am. (?) hahahaAnd the high score of the night? was it Eric's: Stairway to Heaven? Angie's: Angie? Bernadette's: Blue Bayou? no, the high score went to... wait for it.... Doug! he sang Groovy Kinda Love.

jamie & angieAfter Friday's trip to Solvang and sitting in the sun all day, I came home and crashed at 5pm. Today, I woke up at 6am, went for a swim and a hike. After my hike I went to help Carla prepare for her BarBQ. I was asked to be in charge of entertainment, so I had a photo booth and asked Angela to bring her Karaoke mic. These are some of the images from the photo booth. There are over 200 images and I still need to proof them before I publish them. It will take me a couple of days, but here's a sample. Thanks to everyone who participated, and a special thanks to Carla for hosting such a wonderful party. Happy Birthday!

Bianca and I went to Ventura, well actually Solvang (not planned), to cheer on the cyclists of the AIDS Life Cycle ride. They were scheduled to ride from Solvang to Ventura (84 miles), but an accident on HWY 101 and inclement weather canceled the ride. We planned to station ourselves closer to Ventura, but when we got the call from Brendan, a member of the Sweep crew, informing us of the canceled ride, we drove up to Solvang to pick up some stranded riders. About 1700 cyclists were stranded in Solvang awaiting a bus ride down to Ventura. With a few 50-seat buses circulating the route, transporting cyclists, you could tell that the exhaustion was setting in. ALC had no contingency plan for a canceled ride, but I think the "roadies" handled the situation calmly and efficiently. Although my photos don't include anyone riding a bike, it was amazing day to see the dedicated roadies at work.As I mentioned Brendan is part of the sweep crew along with his partner, Bud. They pick up riders who need assistance. Their theme was LOST: they rented a VW bus and had Darma Initiative outfits. Apparently they were a famous crew. Congratulations to everyone who participated in ALC 8. Closing ceremonies are on Saturday, June 6, 2009.
